AFR The Prime Minister to discuss the future of the EU with Valéry Giscard d’Estaing

On Tuesday 2 July 2002, Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen is to meet Chairman of the European Convention, former French President Valéry Giscard d’Estaing.

The meeting will take place at Marienborg. Minister for European Affairs Bertel Haarder and the Prime Minister's personal representative in the Convention, Mr Henning Christophersen, will also participate in the meeting.

On the occasion of the visit, the Prime Minister states:

”I look forward to the meeting with Valéry Giscard d’Estaing. The key topic of our discussions will be the future of the EU. I place great importance on the work of the European Convention on the future of the EU.

We shall discuss the work of the European Convention and the co-operation between the Danish EU Presidency and the Convention. For this reason I am also highly pleased that it has been possible for Valéry Giscard d’Estaing to pay a visit to Denmark here at the beginning of the Presidency. I look forward to good co-operation between the Presidency and the European Convention”.

The Prime Minister's talk with Chairman of the European Convention Valéry Giscard d’Estaing will take place between 10:30 AM and 11:30 AM at Marienborg, Nybrovej 410, Lyngby.

There will be a press conference at 11:30 AM in the court (weather permitting; alternatively indoors).

There will also be a photo opportunity in connection with the Prime Minister's reception of the Chairman of the European Convention at 10:30 AM at Marienborg.
