AFR Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen to meet Polish Prime Minister Leszek Miller

26.11.02

On Tuesday 26 November 2002, Danish Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen is to meet Polish Prime Minister Leszek Miller.

On the occasion of the meeting, the Danish Prime Minister states:

”I am looking forward to meeting my Polish colleague Leszek Miller.

I expect Prime Minister Miller to brief me on the Polish considerations and views concerning the completion of the enlargement negotiations. I shall emphasise to Prime Minister Miller that the time schedule for the completion of the negotiations must be kept, which means that negotiations with individual countries should be completed prior to the Copenhagen Summit. Furthermore, I shall emphasise that the enlargement negotiations will have to be concluded on the basis of the negotiation packages of the EU Presidency.

The negotiations on, among other things, Poland's accession to the EU are just now entering their concluding and decisive phase. In Brussels this week, the Danish EU Presidency will present the concluding negotiation packages to Poland and the other nine candidate countries that we expect to be able to complete the negotiations during the Danish EU Presidency.”
