AFR The Danish Prime Minister to meet the other Nordic EU Member States at Marienborg on 13 October 2002

10.10.02

On the evening of 13 October 2002, the three Nordic EU Member States will meet at Marienborg. Danish Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen will host the event, which will include a meeting followed by a dinner. Besides the Danish Prime Minister, the participants include Finland's Prime Minister Paavo Lipponen and Sweden's Minister for Foreign Affairs Anna Lindh.

On the occasion of the meeting, Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen states:

”I have invited my Nordic EU colleagues to Copenhagen as part of the preparations for the forthcoming meeting of the European Council in Brussels on 24 and 25 October 2002. The focus of the discussions will be the highly important issues on the agenda for the meeting of the European Council. These include the enlargement and the Kaliningrad issue. In addition, we shall lift our eyes and look a little further ahead by considering the work of the Convention on the future of Europe.

We have a tradition for holding these meetings before the meetings of the European Council. In the Nordic circle of EU Member States, we share many positions on issues on the European agenda. This applies not least to the current situation in which Denmark holds the EU Presidency.”
