AFR The President of the United States, George W. Bush discusses Iraq with Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen
09.09.02
President Bush and Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen to day discussed the international situation in a call ahead of the opening of the United Nations General Assembly on 12th September 2002.
“President Bush wanted to consult Denmark and the EU Presidency and discus Iraq’s repeated failure to heed international obligations.
I supported the President’s decision to build international support in the UN for increasing pressure on Saddam Hussein. Notably to allow unconditional and unimpeded access for the UN weapons inspectors (UNMOVIC).
In the case of continued refusal on the part of Iraq to follow the demands of the UN, I would find it recommendable to seek renewed authority from the Security Council for necessary enforcement action.”
